How Smart Job Seeker works

Smart Job Seeker turns a scattered job hunt into one organised pipeline. The flow is simple:

  1. Build your profile once. Your experience, skills, and preferences live in your profile and power everything else.
  2. Scrape job boards. SJS even suggests searches based on your profile, then runs them from Job Import — a real browser pulls in matching listings, automatically and on a schedule if you want.
  3. Match with AI. Each job is scored against your profile so the best fits rise to the top of your Job Matches.
  4. Apply and track. Generate tailored cover letters and answers with AI, and keep every application, interview, and follow-up in your tracker.

The on-device browser

The scraping step is what makes SJS different. Instead of a shared cloud bot that job boards quickly detect and block, SJS drives a real Chrome on a real device with a real home IP address. That's far more reliable — but it means a device has to be running somewhere.

You have two options:

  • Run your own device — a desktop app, or a small Docker container on a NAS or home server. See Devices & sharing.
  • Use a device someone shared with you — if a more technical friend invited you, you don't have to set up anything at all. Just pick their device when you run a search.

That's the whole idea: one person can host a device and bring in others who'd never want to deal with the setup.
